HAL receives RFP for 15 limited series Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) from Indian Army & Air Force

Indian Army & Air Force have sent a Request for Proposal (RFP) for 15 indigenous Limited Series Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) according to latest media report thus waving way for limited production from 2018 onwards in a major boost for Make in India for defence.

Defence Acquisitions Council has given its approval for the procurement of 15 LCH a few weeks back and HAL already has inaugurated new manufacturing facility which will start production of indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) from 2018 onwards.

India’s LCH is a 5.8-tonne class combat helicopter and is powered by two Shakti engines equipped with 20mm Turret gun, 70 mm rocket, air-to-air missile, EO-Pod and helmet pointing system.

LCH is also only attack helicopter in India which is capable of high-altitude warfare and also is only attack helicopter to land at Forward Base in Siachen, which is 5400 mts above sea level.

LCH has caught the eye of several Asian and African countries and according to HAL, Myanmar Army chief was briefed about the LCH’s Capabilities earlier this year at Aero India 2017.
