LCA Tejas SP-9 successfully completes first flight

The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) – Tejas SP-9 (LA-5009) completed its maiden flight after taking off at 10.33hrs from HAL Airport in Bengaluru on 24 March 2018 piloted by Air.Cmdr KA Muthanna (Retd). SP-9 flew for 21 mins and landed back at 10.54hrs.

The LCA Tejas SP-9 is Ninth Series Production aircraft and Second Brand New LCA-Tejas to fly within a span of 11 days. SP-08 had completed its first flight on 13 of this Month Successfully.

SP-08 and SP-09 after few initial production testing sorties will be handed over to No.45 Squadron of the Indian Air Force also called the ‘Flying Daggers’ by end of next month.

LCA-Tejas manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) had promised to deliver 3 aircraft in the month of March and Back-to-Back maiden flights of SP-08 and SP-09 have cleared the path for SP-10 flights by end of this month or early next month.
