T.N. government should take action against H. Raja, says Dravidar Kazhagam’s Veeramani

The Dravidar Kazhagam President was referring to the BJP leader’s social media post advocating that Periyar statues be demolished

Dravidar Kazhagam President K. Veeramani has asked the AIADMK government to take action against BJP National Secretary H. Raja for his Facebook post advocating that Periyar statues in Tamil Nadu be demolished.

In a statement, the DK President said the Chief Minister had just convened a meeting of district collectors and superintendents of police and advised them to maintain law and order in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Mr. Raja, in the Facebook post, wrote that the statues of Periyar, called Thanthai (Father) Periyar in Tamil Nadu, would be brought down in the State. Mr. Raja on Wednesday regretted the post, saying it was published “without his permission”.

Questioning how they (BJP) had the courage, Mr. Veeramani asked if it was because the BJP was ruling at the Centre or because the AIADMK government was controlled by them.

This was a clear indication that the BJP-Sangh Parivar was planning to disrupt law and order and communal harmony. They should understand the consequences of such provocative and derisive posts, he cautioned.

If the Tamil Nadu government was really keen on maintaining law and order in the State, then it should take action against Mr. Raja, who keeps on making communal statements, at least now, the DK leader demanded.
