Israeli envoy: India and Israel working jointly to battle terrorism

India will benefit in building alliances -- political alliances, and social alliances.

New Delhi: Naor Gilon, the Israeli ambassador to India, stated on Wednesday that the two nations are cooperating to fight terrorism.

“I will reiterate that India and Israel are suffering significantly from terrorism and are also acting together wherever we can, to combat terrorism,” Gilon said in an exclusive interview with ANI.

He also emphasised the significance of regional alliances, particularly the I2U2 bloc, which consists of the US, Israel, the UAE, and India and conducted its inaugural virtual summit in July 2022.

“I think, it’s a very important group together which brings close allies and likeminded countries – UAE, US, India and Israel which put the interests of people ahead. I think that such more groupings – regional groupings can be a very useful element to improve in both Asia and the world – by bringing new technologies, new cooperation, better economy and new values,” said the Israeli envoy.

Following the Abraham Accords between Israel and the UAE, I2U2 was first established in October 2021 to address issues relating to marine security, infrastructure, and transport in the area.

It was known as the “International Forum for Economic Cooperation” at the time. The phrase “West Asian Quad” was used to describe this.

India, Israel, the US, and the UAE have formed the I2U2 initiative. I2 and U2 are the names of the United States and the United Arab Emirates, respectively, in the grouping.

This outstanding accomplishment illustrates the geopolitical shifts taking place in the area.

This would not only revive and re-energize the global system of alliances and partnerships, but also knit together alliances that did not previously exist or or were not utilized to their full extent.

In the context of these new groups, this will assist the countries in investigating security cooperation among the four countries.

These nations are all centres of technology. Of course, biotechnology is also widely used in each of these nations.

The opportunity to talk about food security is provided by this project. These nations might collaborate in a variety of areas, including technologies, trade, the environment, combating COVID-19, and even security.

India will benefit from the Abraham Accords by deepening its relationship with Israel without jeopardising its relations with the UAE and other Arab nations.

India is also a sizable consumer market. It also produces a significant amount of high-tech items that are in high demand. This alliance will be advantageous to India.
