Mumbai: This Sunday, September 11, Vice Admiral Ajendra Singh, who is in charge of the Indian Navy’s western command, will inaugurate “Taragiri,” a stealth frigate made by the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL). The Indian Defense Force’s twitter account provided the information.

“Taragiri” will join two other frontline warships in service: “Surat,” the fourth missile destroyer of the Visakhapatnam class, and “Udaygiri,” the second stealth frigate of the Nilgiri Class. The first quarter of this year saw the launches of both of the earlier vessels.

The third ship of Project 17A, “Taragiri,” will be launched in the second quarter and is outfitted with cutting-edge weapons, sensors, an advanced action information system, an integrated platform management system, premium modular living quarters, and an advanced power distribution system.

Numerous additional elements will be included in the stealth frigate that was designed locally. It will also have a supersonic surface-to-surface missile system fitted in it.
