4 injured,12 killed in Bihar as SUV collides head-on with Tractor.
According to information reaching the district headquarters, the accident took place at around 4.30am when the speeding SUV collided head-on with a tractor after its driver lost control over the vehicle.
At least 12 people, including two children, were killed and four critically injured after an SUV and a tractor collided head-on on National Highway 28 in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Saturday morning, police said.The station house officer of Kanti, Kundan Kumar, said that 11 people died on the spot, while one succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.Police took the injured to the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur, where their condition is said to be critical, with the help of residents of Samras village under the Kanti police station.
“We have sent four injured to the SKMCH, where one of them died,” he said.He added two of the injured have been identified as Rambadan Sahni and Dhruva Sahni, residents of Simari village under Hathaudi police station.The doctors treating them declared their condition to be serious.“We are monitoring them very closely. All the necessary action is being taken to save their lives. The next 24 hours are very crucial for us. We can say something only after that,” Dr Sunil Kumar Shahi, superintendent of SKMCH, said.

A local said he rushed to the spot after hearing a great thudding noise.“I found nothing but blood all around. Some people were wreathing in pain, while some had lost their lives lying in the pool of blood,” Pramod Prasad, a resident of the village, said.
He said he along with some other locals started rescue work.Local residents disrupted vehicular traffic on the highway demanding immediate compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each of the victims’ families.District magistrate Ranjit Kumar Singh said he and the sub-divisional officer (west) were camping there to control the situation. Forces from four police stations were also rushed to the spot keeping strong protest of the locals in mind.
Singh said the identity of the dead was yet to be ascertained.
“We are trying to identify the victims. The ex gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh to the deceased family members will be given as per rules,” he said.
