Auto Expo 2018: Maruti unveils ConceptFutureS
It has been designed in-house by Maruti Suzuki and boasts of integrating SUV features in compact dimensions.
Country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday kick started the Auto Expo 2018 with the global unveil of its concept compact car that comes with SUV-like characters.
“Two years ago, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, designed and developed in India, was unveiled here…Today, we unveil an idea, a concept that once again promises to redefine the Indian market,” Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India said while introducing the ConceptFutureS.
The concept has been designed in-house by Maruti Suzuki and boasts of integrating SUV features in compact dimensions.
“Compact is the natural choice of India’s car customers. It is an answer to concerns of congestion and emission,” Mr Ayukawa said, adding that compact needs a fresh design language, one that is bold, confident and dynamic.
“Our designers have created this brand new design, aggressive on the outside, and bold and inviting interiors. Nothing like this has ever been attempted before on a vehicle this size. ConceptFutureS will define the next generation of design for compact vehicles in India,” he said.
Nearly 75% of passenger vehicles bought in India are small and compact vehicles.
Pointing that compact vehicles are at the core of the company’s product philosophy, he added that it has potential to re-define the design of next generation compact vehicles in India.
He further said that the company is on course to convert its large portfolio of products to meet BS VI emission standards in time for the advanced deadline of 2020.
Maurti Suzuki will also be launching its first Electric Vehicle in 2020. The EV, the company said, will be locally manufactured.
