Minor fire in Mumbai Monorail, no casualties

Due to this Monorail services have since been disrupted.

A minor fire broke out here in the rear bogie of a Monorail train early on Thursday, an official said. All the Monorail services have since been disrupted.

The incident occurred around 5.30 a.m. on a regular local service to the Wadala station. There were no casualties in the incident.

A monorail train caught fire at Mysore Colony station in Chembur on Thursday morning. Services have been shut down following the incident, and are likely to resume only in the afternoon.

Disaster management officials said the fire broke out at 5.20 am and was brought under control in around 40 minutes. Three fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot to put it out.

 

As it was early morning, there was no rush at the station when the fire broke out. No commuters were injured.

Prima facie, it looks like the fire was caused by a short circuit, a fire brigade official said, requesting anonymity.

Currently, the city has one monorail line which runs along a nine-km route, covering seven stations, from Chembur to Wadala. The trains run from 5am to midnight daily.

Mumbai monorail services were temporarily hit after a train caught fire at the Mysore Colony station in Chembur. Services are likely to resume in the afternoon.

The incident happened at 5:20am on Thursday. According to officials, a short circuit may have triggered the fire. Two bogies were reportedly damaged in the incident.

No casualties have been reported. Fire was extinguished by firemen using one big and one small hose line of three fire engines after disconnecting  ..
