Modi promises full support to Telangana’s developmental programmes

There is no scope for discrimination on political grounds, says the Prime Minister, while addressing party workers at the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that the Central government will extend its full support to the developmental programmes launched by the Telangana government.

Mr. Modi, who addressed a meeting of BJP workers on his arrival at the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad on Tuesday said the Centre believed in the federal structure of the country and would not give any scope for shortfall in its support to the State.

“I am assuring that we will extend our fullest support to Telangana. There is no scope for discrimination on political grounds,” he said.

The Prime Minister started his speech in chaste Telugu, saying that whenever he came to Hyderabad, he remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It was Sardar Patel who liberated Hyderabad from the Nizam rule and merged it into the Indian Union.

Greets people of Telangana

Conveying his greetings to the four crore people of the State, he said the BJP could not get an opportunity to serve the people of the State by being in power. The party workers were, however, striving for the people’s welfare with service as their motto. “The BJP is acclaimed as the biggest political party in the world. The credit goes to the party workers and their families who made sacrifices for the country and the party,” he said amid chants of “Modi, Modi” .

Mr. Modi described Hyderabad as a wonderful city. He said the world was looking at this city,  which was hosting the prestigious GES-2017, a conclave of champions of industry.
