Mufti Waqas, Top Jaish Terrorist Behind Sunjwan Attack, Killed In Encounter

Five soldiers and a civilian were killed and 10 people injured in the February 10 attack on the Sunjwan army camp, counted as one of the worst since the 2016 Uri attack, in which 19 soldiers were killed.

NEW DELHI:  A top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Mufti Waqas, believed to be the mastermind of the terror attack on the Sunjwan Army Camp last month, has been killed by the Rashtriya Rifles in south Kashmir.

“Jaish commander Mufti Waqas has been killed in an encounter at Hatiwara, Awantipora… He was Chief Commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Jammu and Kashmir and mastermind of suicide attacks of Sunjwan, Lethpora, Pulwama DPL and BSF at Srinagar airport” state top cop SP Vaid said in a series of tweets.

“This has resulted in a major dent to the designs of JeM as after elimination of their earlier operational commander Noor Mohd Tantrey in the same area in Dec 17, his successor too has been killed,” the army said.

Five soldiers and a civilian were killed and 10 people injured in the February 10 attack on the Sunjwan army camp, counted as one of the worst since the 2016 Uri attack, in which 19 soldiers were killed. The four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists who carried out the suicide attack at the army camp in the heart of Jammu were also killed in the attack.
