India vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Day 3: India 114/6 at the end of 45 overs

Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha opened the session of the third day in the first cricket Test against Sri Lanka, in Kolkata on Saturday. India resumed play at 74/5 after two days were spoiled by rain and wet outfield, allowing only 32.5 overs of play.

Pujara, 52 runs from 117 balls, was bowled out by Lahiru Gamage in 37th over. Left handed batman Ravindra Jadeja came to the crease.

On-field English umpire Richard Kettleborough pulled out of third day’s play due to a throat infection. The 44-year-old was replaced by third umpire Joel Wilson who accompanied Nigel Long on the field.

Long, from Trinidad, was replaced as TV umpire by fourth umpire Anil Chaudhary. A local umpire, Binod Thakur, will now act as the fourth umpire.

At lunch, which was called early after rain cut short the first session on Friday, Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on 47 in the company of Wriddhiman Saha (6 not out).

Brief Scores:

India 1st innings: 74 for five in 32.5 overs (Cheteshwar Pujara 47 not out; Suranga Lakmal 3/5).
