India vs Sri Lanka, 1st T20I: Yuzvendra Chahal becomes highest T20I wicket-taker in 2017

After the Lankan demolishment, Chahal has now taken 19 T20I wickets in 2017. In total, he has taken 22 wickets in 13 T20I appearances.

New Delhi: After he blitzed past Sri Lanka’s top order, Yuzvendra Chahal became the highest T20I wicket-taker in 2017. Against the Lankans in Cuttack, he recorded figures of 4/23 at the Barabati Stadium.

After the Lankan demolishment, Chahal has now taken 19 T20I wickets in 2017. In total, he has taken 22 wickets in 13 T20I appearances.

The 27-year old Haryana bowler’s perfect deliveries sent the Sri Lanka batsmen back to the stands, as India recorded a comfortable 93 run victory – which is also their highest T20I win in terms of runs.

The right-arm leg-spinner – who made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2016 – scalped the likes of Upul Tharanga, Angelo Mathews, Asela Gunaratne and Dasun Shanaka.

Chahal was joined by his spinner partner Kuldeep Yadav, who ended with figures of 2/18.

Of late, Ashwin and Jadeja, who are Test regulars, have lost out their places to Kuldeep and Chahal in India’s limited overs side.

India won the match against Sri Lanka in comfortable 93 run victory and recorded their highest ever T20I win in terms of runs. The Men in Blue will be meeting the Lankans again on 22nd December 2017 in Indore’s Holkar Stadium and will be looking to seal the series with a victory.
